(Woodside, NY)  Queens Pride House will proudly present a Queer Cultural Festival of Queens from Wednesday, June 2 through Sunday, June 5.  The first lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) -themed cultural series of this type ever presented in Queens, the festival includes visual arts, film, theater, and dramatic performances.  The festival commences on Wednesday, June 2 with an opening reception, a performance by Amormarchito Productions La muñeca, and an art exhibit featuring Queens artists Andrew Bailis, Hector Canonge, C. Jane Epperson, Giovanni Koll, Peter Marin, and Johnny Mora.

On Thursday, June 3, Cinema Rosa will host an evening of independent films at Natives Theater on 82-22 Northern Boulevard in Jackson Heights.  The films include Out at Work (directed by Kelly Anderson & Tami), Rules of the Game (directed by Joerg Fockele), and Pills, Profits & Protest (directed by Anne-Christine d'Adesky & Ann T. Rosetti).

Three Dollar Theater and the International House & Equality Forum will present a staged reading of Tara's Crossing a new play by Jeffrey Solomon, on Friday, June 4 at 8 p.m. at Queens Pride House.  Part 1 of Over the Rainbow -- Seeking Queer Asylum in America, Tara's Crossing tells the story of Tara, a transgendered woman from Guyana who struggles to win her asylum from while incarcerated in U.S. Immigration detention in New Jersey.

The festival concludes on Saturday, June 5 at 5 p.m. with Queens Out Loud, a performance of queer spoken poetry hosted by Emanuel Xavier, who is one of the significant voices to emerge from the neo-Nuyorican spoken word movement.  Spoken word artists include R. Erica Doyle, Buttafly Soul, Danielle Abrams and more.   

A center for the LGBT communities of Queens, Queens Pride House provides a safe space for LGBT individuals so that they can reach their full potential.  QPH offers its own programs and serves as a site for other service providers to provide their own programs and services.  Pride House also rents meeting space to LGBT groups from throughout the city. 

Queer Links, a service of Queens Pride House, provides resources and referrals to medical, legal, social services, mental health, HIV/AIDS, and a variety of other services for the community of Queens.  Queer Links helps LGBT people find lawyers, therapists, chiropractors, and even realtors who are LGBT-supportive.  Pride House is open Wednesday through Friday 5-9 p.m. and 2-7 p.m. on Saturdays.
