“Back in the Day”

a panel discussion and celebration of cross-generational LGBT pride

co-sponsored by the AIDS Center of Queens County (ACQC), Queens Pride House,

the Queens Rainbow Community Center and SAGE/Queens

 Back in the Day,” a panel discussion and celebration of LGBT pride features structured conversations between LGBT youth in Queens and members of Queens senior LGBT community. The discussion will be facilitated by Raymond-Anthony J. Penko, executive director of Queens Pride House and will give senior members of Queens’ LGBT community the opportunity to talk with LGBT youth about being lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgendered in Queens before 1980. Senior panelists will be from Senior Action in a Gay Environment/Queens (SAGE/Queens).  LGBT youth participating in the program will be from the AIDS Center of Queens County (ACQC) and the Queens Rainbow Community Center.

 The Kew Gardens Community Center will play host to this event. The Center is located at 80-02 Kew Gardens Road (Suite 202), at the intersection of Queens Blvd. & Union Turnpike. The program will run from 6pm-9pm. Panelists and audience members will have an opportunity to share experiences and ask questions about life ‘back in the day.’

 This program, initiated by SAGE/Queens, aims to foster greater respect and increased understanding amongst the various age groups within Queens’ LGBT communities. A mix ‘n’ mingle social will follow the discussion.  All are invited to attend.
